Christwalk Church Opens Duncan Theater to Provide Summer Programs and Events For the Community
Christwalk at the Duncan Theater will be offering several upcoming programs and events for families and individuals who live in Killbuck Village, Glenmont and Clark. An extension of Christwalk Church in Millersburg, Pastor Woodall said our goal is to use the historic theater to offer fun, community programming like Saturday Night at the Movies, Wednesday Night Kidz Club and Summer Camps throughout June, July and August to begin our new adventure. We want kids and teens off the streets, off social media and off video games. Let’s get creative and play a historic game called dodge ball in the front of a historic theater where many adults reading this grew up!
“We are not church as usual...and our vision is to show the redeeming love of Jesus to all people by getting very involved with the community, with both neighbors and businesses. The church can foster economic development, it just takes strong leaders working together in unity, not jealousy”, said Woodall.
Nearly two years ago, Pastor Woodall and his family had the vision to start a different type of church in Millersburg. Located just (6) driveways down from Pomerene Hospital, Christwalk Millersburg is well on the way to becoming something that resembles a community center for all people who need truth and healing. We currently reach out to the residents of Sunshine Villa by hosting seasonal events and visit neighbors with fresh-baked cookies and brownies on a regular basis. We partner with Pomerene Hospital and open our Wooster Road Church to a multitude of meetings, trainings and special events that range from child-birthing classes to departmental meetings and brunches for mom’s of stillborn births. A church is not just for preaching and holding Sunday School. Ministry in this day and age could mean you open the doors to the community and collaborate with other for profit and non-profit entities to create new partnerships with the gospel.
This new opportunity is part of the overall vision and having a 238 seat theater in the middle of Killbuck Village is only another piece of the puzzle to build an even stronger community in Holmes County.
Traveling back and forth from Georgia, where the ministries home-base is located, the Christwalk Family has quickly developed strong relationships with Amish, Mennonite and English families. “We are family, he stated. Let’s do this together and change things for the better.” Moving into the Duncan Theater is a gift from God to reach more children, students and adults the way Jesus did. What if it takes a church to reach a village? I’m willing...are you!?
