How Can I Figure Out Where I Fit In?
How Can I Figure Out Where I Fit In?
By Pastor Chip Woodall
When our family was on vacation two weeks ago, there was a lamp that would not turn on in our condo. I looked and saw that it was unplugged. The plug-in was made to fit perfectly into the outlet on the wall. It was shaped to go in a certain way and did not require force. This is a great illustration of how you can figure out where you fit in at church.
You and I were made to fit into some position of service. In fact, each one of us was made to fit into a specific part of the church to compliment the body as a whole.
What you do to serve in the church honors God no matter how big or small it may seem. It does not require forcing, twisting or applying pressure for you to fit into place. You were made by God to fit some where within the body of the church He has called you to.
What do you enjoy doing for the Lord?
What brings you lots of satisfaction when you ministers to others?
Are you more introverted or extroverted when you try to fit in?
What have you felt a nudge to do through your church that you have not acted on?
Now one last question…
What are you waiting for?
Every area of service matters in the body of Christ. While those who serve visibly often get more praise and attention, they could not do what they do without someone else behind the scenes serving in another way. It all adds up to ONE complete body for Jesus.
You have a place where you fit in, so serve!
“Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!”
Psalm 100:2-4 ESV
