A Summer Full of Christwalk Ministry

A Summer Full of Christwalk Ministry

By Pastor Chip Woodall

It’s hard to believe that school is starting back next week in Georgia and in three weeks in Ohio. Where has the summer gone? The old saying, “time flies when you are having fun,” holds true, as I reflect back on what has been accomplished through Christwalk this summer.

In Killbuck Village we have worked with (27) kids and teens through Kidz Fest Camps held at the Duncan Theater and will hold the last camp next week at the Killbuck Elementary Gym. This all started by going door to door to every house in Killbuck and giving out pre-packaged cookies to introduce ourselves. Two Block Parties and three cookouts have attracted over 300 people as we grilled burgers, hot dogs and shut down streets to allow families in the village a safe, fun place to gather and build community, while enjoying food together. We also started the weekly Kidz Club that meets in the Duncan every Wednesday Night from 6-7 pm. This will be an on-going weekly meeting open to kids and teenagers. And through mission teams from Georgia, we painted the old playground, constructed and installed new swings and freshened up the landscaping at the school. Not to mention starting a great relationship between the school, the PTO and Christwalk. We are now looking at introducing Upward Basketball and Cheerleading later this winter.

In Millersburg, we just launched what we call Upside Down Church. You can join us at our Christwalk Millersburg location to check this out. Imagine going to church twice each month to be taught the truth of the Bible, meeting in a community group once each month and then taking a Sunday to go outside the church walls and do hands-on ministry throughout Holmes County. This is now Christwalk Millersburg! We have taken the traditional Sunday Church Service and tried to mold our ministry to be more like what Jesus did with his disciples. He taught in the temple some, otherwise, Jesus discipled His closest twelve and then went out in the villages, markets and smaller towns to minister to those who were sick, hungry and hurting. We teach the Bible and then put it into action through local outreach projects across Holmes County. It requires no additional time because we take advantage of Sunday, which is already ear-marked for church. This is just an upside down approach to church as usual.

Back in Georgia, we have watched softball continue to grow Christwalk as our guys and gals reach out weekly through local or nearby Friday and Saturday Tournament play. One in particular stands out as a young father of six was recently diagnosed with cancer.  The local tournament raised nearly $8,000 to help with medical expenses.

It’s all about the Family Anointing on the ministry of Christwalk as this summer we also launched Family Stays. Taking place at our retreat center called Christwalk in the Valley, everyone in the church got to stay overnight for two nights, cook meals and eat together, then attend several Bible sessions designed to grow us closer as a family. We basically did life together with the pastoral team and leadership for two days and nights. Laughter, Tears, Prayer, Testimonies, it all swelled up, full circle when we  got together for the Family Stays. And guess what? No one wanted to leave and go back home! If you missed out, we plan to schedule more for October and November.

And while the summer may be coming to a close according to the school calendar, we are not finished yet…we need to finish strong! So here are some last minute tips to fill your summer with Christwalk.

Apply the Psalm 91 Prayer Initiative from your seated position “In Christ”. Attend one of the upcoming Family Stays. Travel to Ohio with a mission team. Call our Ohio Family and invite them to Georgia to stay with you at the Valley or your home.

No more lazy days of summer. There is more to do through Christwalk Family Ministries. Join us this summer!
